Lily Nguyen is a Minneapolis-based art director and designer that leverages a thoughtful and culturally-informed design approach to enhance a brand's tone of voice. Her work has ranged from various design ventures in her local rave scene, designing a new web interface for a bedazzled wine glass company, to art directing creative campaigns for brands, big and small. Pairing conceptual thinking with elevated design treatments, Lily aims to create brand universes by tapping into by cultural nuances, shared lived experiences, and the evolving media landscape.

Did You Eat Yet?
ABSTRACT
Let's face it. Growing up, you don't get a manual for decoding your immigrant parent's lived experiences. Or allowing them to understand yours. "Did You Eat Yet" is a conversation card game paired with a multi-channel promotional campaign. It aims to bridge conversation gaps and strengthen the connection between you and your immigrant parent over an activity that you perform often together: dinner. Sharing a meal goes beyond the plate; it's a form of communication, laden with culture, history, and memories. Guided by this philosophy, "Did You Eat Yet" employs tongue-in-cheek and slightly sardonic language, paired with a modern, culturally-infused visual identity to stir up dialogue, uncover lived cultural experiences, and break down walls between you and your parent—hopefully, without breaking their hearts too.

DEPARTURE
Lily's post-grad plans are to travel in Europe, then pursue a career in advertising as an art director at a Minneapolis-based agency. She aims to relocate to an international hub in the US, or abroad with the hopes of art directing large-scale integrated campaigns for international clients. Ultimately, her plans will depend on whatever country she ends up moving to that has a vibrant underground techno scene, or whatever side quest she embarks on.
